Meatloaf Recipe

This is a family favorite. It is amazing how many restaurants are terrible at making meatloaf. I don't know if they get too fancy, or what, but this is a pretty simple recipe. I have added bell pepper and green beans in an effort to sneak in some vegetables. I have also left out the added salt because there is already plenty of sodium in there.


2 lbs hamburger or bison
3 slices of bread, torn into pieces
1/2 onion, chopped
1 bell pepper, chopped
2 eggs
1 Tbs dry mustard
1/4 C milk
1/4 C Ketchup
6 slices Kraft singles
1 can of green beans, drained (or other, hard vegetable)
Mashed potatoes


  • Preheat oven to 400. 
  • Spray 9X13 pan with non-stick baking spray. 
  • Prepare bread and onion. 
  • Slightly beat eggs. 
  • Mix in beef, then bread and onions. 
  • Add carrots, dry mustard, milk, and 1/4 C Ketchup.
  • Put 2/3 beef mixture in pan and form into a rectangular shape. 
  • Put cheese slices on the beef.
  • Put the remaining beef on top of the cheese and push edges from together.
  • Cover the top with Ketchup. 
  • Bake for 30 min, pull the dish out of the oven, add the green beans around the edges, and then bake for another 20 min.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes.

For Christmas my wife gave me a Netatmo weather station because I am a home weather station nerd. The Netatmo is very cool, but it has an unexpected feature: it measures indoor Carbon Dioxide (CO2) levels. Rooftop Playgrounds

This week I have had some meetings in a tall building in downtown Seattle, and when I took a moment to look around and enjoy the view I have noticed playgrounds on rooftops. I saw this daycare playground: and this playground on top of a school: I think that this is a really cool use of space. A friend that grew up in NYC said that her school had a rooftop playground, too. The delinquent in me wonders how many toys and balls go over the side, but I bet the teachers are pretty strict about that. Downtown Seattle has always seemed a little unfriendly towards kids and it is neat to see spaces being carved out.

BMW i3 Electric Car Review from a Real Owner

I am not an automotive journalist. I am an actual i3 owner who really uses an electric car as a daily driver. I am a parent, I have a job, and I am a Boy Scout volunteer so I have frequent activities in the evenings and weekends.
